Rosatom gets permit to build world’s first lead cooled fast reactor

MOSCOW, Feb 10 (PRIME) -- The Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Oversight has given a license to Siberian Chemical Plant, a subsidiary of nuclear power corporation Rosatom, to build the first fast neutron power test unit BREST-OD-300 in the world, the authority said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Head of the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Oversight Alexei Alyoshin signed a license on February 10, 2021 to build the world’s first test lead cooled fast reactor," the statement read.

The unit will test the nuclear power technology of the future.
